Some Leeds United fans on Twitter saw Kalvin Phillips’ performance as a positive from the defeat to Preston.

Kalvin Phillips completed 90 minutes in the defeat to Preston North End on Tuesday night, and some of the Leeds United supporters praised him on Twitter for his individual performance.
The Whites suffered their first loss under manager Marcelo Bielsa, as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the second round following a 2-0 defeat.
Daniel Johnson and Brandon Barker both scored for visitors Preston at Elland Road in the first half, while their player Ryan Ledson was sent off for a two-footed challenge on Lewis Baker.
Leeds were unable to capitalise on the man advantage in the second period, meaning their focus can now shift back to the league.
Bielsa opted to make nine changes for the midweek cup fixture, with eyes surely on a top of the table clash with Middlesbrough in the Championship on Friday night.
Phillips was one of the survivors in the starting XI for the Yorkshire giants and has developed into a key player this season.
The 22-year-old midfielder has thrived under Bielsa and showed his flexibility by dropping in at centre-back against Preston.

A selection of Leeds fans on social media singled out Phillips as a shining light from the first defeat of the campaign.
