Some Tottenham fans have responded to Juan Foyth’s injury news.

Tottenham defender Juan Foyth will miss the start of the season through injury – and some of the club’s supporters believe they now have to sign a replacement.

Spurs have confirmed that the 20-year-old picked up a thigh muscle injury during a pre-season game with Brentford and that it has ruled him out for the beginning of the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino could already be short of options ahead of the Premier League opener against Newcastle, with centre-back options Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez all competing at the World Cup.

According to a report from the Independent, Manchester United feel they can wrap up a deal for defender Alderweirled this summer despite seeing talks break down.

The North London club do have youngster Cameron Carter-Vickers as another alternative in defence, but they appear to be very thin on the ground.
