Aston Villa picked up yet another Championship draw, as a late Aaron Tshibola header rescued a point against Newcastle United at Villa Park on Saturday evening.
A Tommy Elphick own goal put the Magpies ahead in the first half, and had it not been for the visitors squandering numerous chances to extend their lead, the game would have been over by the hour.

A dramatic switch of momentum, however, saw Aston Villa dominate the later stages of the match, as Mile Jedinak had a goal ruled out for offside and Tshibola had a penalty appeal turned down and was consequently booked for diving.
The introduction of Rudy Gestede gave the hosts an increased threat up-front. Villa then started to create a number of good opportunities, as Newcastle looked to hang on for the draw.
But in the final few minutes the young midfielder headed a corner goalwards, and the ball managed to slip past United keeper Matz Sels and into the net to make it 1-1 – and that’s how the game finished.
