Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers wants to see a strong attacking performance from his side against Rangers on Saturday (kick-off 12 noon).

The Hoops have won all three of their Scottish Premiership matches this season and could go four points clear of their bitter rivals at the top of the table with victory at Celtic Park.

It is the first time the teams have met in the Scottish top flight since 2012 and Celtic will be keen to avenge their Scottish Cup semi-final defeat earlier in the year.

The Gers won on penalties in that match at Hampden Park but now Rodgers is confident of coming out on to given Celtic’s home advantage.

“It’s games that I have watched, games that I have listened to all my life, so to actually be involved in pole position in the game is going to be exciting, especially being the first game at home,” the former Liverpool manager told Celtic TV

“But the idea is to go into the game with positivity we have had, with that boldness that we have had in our game and the approach to the game, and obviously look to get three points, which would keep up our winning start.”

Rodgers’ side could be without key striker Leigh Griffiths after the Scotland international sat out training during the week though the Northern Irish head coach remains confident about the Hoops’ chances.

Celtic are seen as clear favourites to come out on top at Parkhead with bookies pricing them at 4/7 on to beat their city rivals despite their Scottish Cup defeat last term.
