Sky Sports pundit Ian Holloway believes Newcastle United have made a real statement to the rest of the Championship with their 6-0 thrashing of Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Tuesday night.

The wholly convincing victory was the Magpies’ sixth in a row in all competitions and Holloway believes the Rafa Benitez is now getting the best out of his side following a poor start to the season.

“As a juggernaut (Newcastle) has got going,” the former QPR manager told Sky Sports News HQ.

“I think with Newcastle their momentum is (there) now. I don’t think the shirt is too heavy for them any more and they’ve got that togetherness and they’re starting to believe.”

United lost their opening two games of the season to Fulham and Huddersfield Town but have since turned things around in dramatic fashion as they now find themselves just a point off the top of the table following their five straight league victories against Reading, Bristol City, Brighton, Derby County and most recently QPR.

With 16 goals for and just four against, Newcastle also boast the best goal difference in the division as they look to continue their fine run of form at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers this Saturday (3pm kick-off).
