Harry Kane is eyeing a Champions League knockout stage clash with one of Europe’s top club sides, including holders Real Madrid.
Spurs are taking part in Europe’s top club competition for the first time since 2011 where they were knocked out at the quarter final stage by the Galacticos.
This season Kane and company will open their Champions League campaign next Wednesday at Wembley Stadium against French side Monaco before travelling to Russia to face CSKA Moscow and then Germany to play Bayer Leverkusen.
Emmanuel Adebayor scored twice for Real Madrid as they knocked Spurs out of the Champions League.
It’s group Tottenham will certainly be expected to qualify from and Kane has already named Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich as his preferred teams to face in the knockout stages, should Spurs get there.
In an interview with Copa 90, the Premier League Golden Boot winner explained his choices, stating: “You want to test yourself against the best players and the best teams in Europe and those teams are definitely up there.”

The England international is yet to score for club or country so far this season but still believes Spurs are in for a successful season.
When asked if the team can emulate last term’s record third placed Premier League finish last term, Kane replied: “Yeah definitely, we’ve been through a lot together as a team last year with ups and downs. Hopefully we’ll see more ups this season.”
