With Tony Pulis’ future at West Brom looking uncertain, club captain Darren Fletcher has came out to praise the Baggies manager and believes the club’s future is bright under the Welshman.

Pulis is thought to be unhappy with Albion’s transfer business over the summer which has ultimately cast doubts about his position at the club.

West Brom spent £22.5m on players over the summer, including record signing Nacer Chadli who joined from Tottenham Hotspur for £13m.

Other additions included Matt Phillips from QPR, Watford’s Allan Nyom and Euro 2016 star Hal Robson-Kanu. Everton full-back Brendan Galloway also joined on a season long loan.

Still West Brom missed out on a number of key transfer targets in what proved to be a frustrating window for Pulis and his side.

The manager’s no-show in the Baggies’ friendly against Delhi Dynamos on Saturday further fuelled speculation regarding his future, although it is clear that Pulis retains the support of his players.

“If you see the position the club were in when he took over to where we are now and how comfortably we stayed up last season, he’s ambitious,” Fletcher told Sky Sports.

“He wants to progress the squad – he doesn’t want to stand still and it’s been well documented there were rumours about this and that.

Pulis took over at West Brom at the start of 2015 and went on to guide the club to back-to-back mid-table Premier League finishes.

Albion have taken four points from their opening three matches this season and Fletcher, who is currently on international duty with Scotland, believes Pulis is the man to take the club forward.

“He’s a great manager and a great man,” continued the former Manchester United man.

“He’s done a great job for West Brom. I can’t speak highly enough of him’.
