Leeds United need a more mobile attack if they are to flourish.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga has scored a creditable five goals in 10 matches for Leeds United, but if the club are to snap their streak of poor results they need to drop him to the bench,
Leeds have lost seven of their last nine games and slumped from first to 10th place.
Lasogga has not been terrible, but Thomas Christiansen’s side has looked best this season without a target man type striker.
Even before Lasogga signed, the two games in which Leeds drew blanks were matches in which Chris Wood started.
Leeds’ best run of games came in the brief spell in which the more mobile Kemar Roofe was deployed up front, including the 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest.
A more fluid attack allowed Samu Saiz greater freedom to interchange with Roofe up front while Ezgjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez both shone.
Leeds also have the more mobile and pacy Caleb Ekuban available for selection, who has missed almost the entire season so far due to injury.
The Whites are unable to deliver Christiansen’s brand of attacking football with an immobile target man up front who is predictable for Championship defences to face.
The German should be dropped to the bench and used as an impact substitute if the Whites are to succeed and turn around their form.
