Jason Cundy slammed his fellow talkSPORT colleague for suggesting that he wishes Declan Rice well now he is at Arsenal because he wouldn’t do the same with Mason Mount at Manchester United.
Declan Rice left West Ham United for Arsenal for a club-record fee, whilst Mason Mount left his boyhood club Chelsea to join Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
Former Chelsea player Cundy stated that someone like Mount is ‘dead to me’ now he will be plying his trade at Old Trafford, whilst ‘it drives me insane’ after a West Ham-supporting colleague told him that he would back and support Rice if he won the Champions League at his new club, as he told talkSPORT.
It’s fair to say that the Rice and Mount exits were very different, even though they have always been well-liked by their previous supporters.
When Mount released a video confirming his departure, the Chelsea fans verbally battered him, but for Rice, it was very different given that his last outing at the club was lifting the Europa Conference League trophy.
Nonetheless, this is what Cundy had to say about people supporting players once they leave them, as he made his feelings about Rice and Mount clear.

“I can’t wish any player that leaves Chelsea well,” said Cundy. “Perfect example is Mason Mount. I loved Mase at Chelsea. Loved him in a blue shirt. He has gone now, no longer a Chelsea player. I can’t wish him well. I can’t. It’s simple, he (Mount) is dead to me.
“If Declan Rice went to Real Madrid. I can understand you saying (I wish him well) because he can’t take trophies off West Ham. He can’t play against you.
“He might do (Rice taking trophies off West Ham at Arsenal). You won the Europa Conference League. What if Arsenal finish third in the Champions League group next season? You might be playing against Arsenal. Do you want them to win the Champions League? (Cundy asks talkSPORT reporter and West Ham fan ‘Moose’).
“People like you drive me insane (on being happy for Arsenal and Rice to win the UCL). It makes no difference to your life if they win it. The only difference it makes is it puts West Ham in a weaker position. The fact that Arsenal have got UCL football, they can afford Declan Rice. I’m just not having it.”

Will Rice and Mount win trophies at their new clubs?
Both Arsenal and Manchester United will be making a return to the Champions League ahead of the new season and how they cope with that will play a big part in how they perform.
Given the money Arsenal have spent under Arteta, he now has to add to the FA Cup he won during his first season at the club.
Whilst ten Hag will be hoping he can take Man United to the next level after they won the League Cup during his debut campaign in English football.
