As far as Liverpool news goes, nothing is bigger than the Mohamed Salah development right now.
On Friday, Liverpool confirmed that Salah had signed a new long-term contract at Anfield.
This put an end to a lot of speculation about the Egypt international’s future on Merseyside and although he could still leave next summer, when his last contract would’ve expired, at least the Premier League outfit will pick up money for him.
However, the club announced something else today.
Liverpool revealed via their official website that Harvey Elliott will wear the number 19 shirt next season.
That squad number – last occupied by Ozan Kabak – was Sadio Mane’s first jersey after joining the Reds from Southampton back in 2016.
Speaking via the official website, Elliott revealed that he actually owned a ‘Mane 19’ shirt before he had joined Jurgen Klopp’s side three years ago.
And here’s how former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique reacted to those comments:
Elliott will be hoping for a much better 2022-23 campaign.
He started off last season like a bat out of hell and was actually starting Premier League games under Klopp.
However, the 19-year-old suffered a fractured leg against Leeds United and struggled to even make the squad on a regular basis, even after enjoying a full and speedy recovery from that injury.
This is a blinding talent and no doubt everyone at Liverpool – including Klopp – will be expecting big things from him next time around.
