Is there a more frustrating footballer in the Premier League than Andre Gomes?
The ability of this former £35 million Barcelona midfielder is not in question. At his very best, the Portugal international is capable of dominating a game from the centre of the park, switching the play effortlessly with one of those pinpoint passes while sauntering through challenges via a swish of his hips and a burst of acceleration.
The problem is, this Gomes only appears about once in a blue moon.
The 27-year-old goes missing more often than your pesky car keys, with Carlo Ancelotti making a habit of hauling him off early in the second half.
In fact, there is an argument to be made that, if you’re picking Everton’s most effective midfield three, Gomes isn’t in it.
With the Toffees supporters giving a potential summer swoop for Brighton dynamo Yves Bissouma their seal of approval on Twitter, Gomes may have just four games left to prove his worth.

Because, while the £40 million-rated Bissouma is far from the finished article just yet, it’s rare that a match passes him by (Express).
Skilful yet snarling, commanding yet cultured, the former Lille youngster is quickly developing into one of the Premier League’s most influential box-to-box midfielders.
Bissouma would be welcomed with open arms at Goodison Park. He’s popular already on the blue half of Merseyside.
Gomes, then, must seize any opportunity to remind us of his talents before the summer window swings open.
