Some Newcastle United fans on social media have been reacting after it was reported that Callum Wilson has torn his calf.

What’s the story with Wilson?

The striker went down against Manchester United earlier this week, and sadly, it seems as though he’s going to be out for quite some time.

Indeed, The Mail claim that the forward faces months on the sidelines, and with Newcastle still battling against relegation, this is something of a nightmare of an update.

Wilson is United’s first-choice number nine, and his injury leaves Dwight Gayle as the only recognised senior centre-forward in the squad.

Need to spend

While Wilson’s injury is terrible news for the Magpies, it has to be said that it’s come at an opportune moment.

Indeed, the January transfer window is just around the corner, so if Newcastle wish to, they will be able to buy a replacement in a matter of days.

Of course, finding the right player and negotiating a deal is easier said than done, but when you’re the richest club in the world, making a signing shouldn’t be too tough of a task.

Newcastle certainly need goals in their side if they are to stay up, so don’t be surprised if they now go out and sign a striker.
