Chris Paul was released by the Los Angeles Clippers, and the decision is still causing ripples across the NBA.
The Clippers surely knew what they were getting when they brought Paul in, even if his best days were behind him.
He’d made it clear from the start that this would be his final season. Even so, he ended up being blamed for much of what went wrong for the team this year.
Carmelo Anthony was among those who commented on Paul’s exit, and now Draymond Green has also spoken about it.

Draymond Green explains why he feels for Chris Paul after Clippers release
Paul was in his 21st season in the league, and while he’d moved around a fair bit, his impact on the game was still widely recognised.
Although he never managed to win an NBA Championship, Paul’s career has been defined by consistency and leadership. Even without a ring, his influence on the sport is hard to ignore.
The way it ended with the Clippers has left a bad taste for many. Draymond Green spoke about it on his show, expressing sympathy for how things played out.
“I feel bad for CP3, who has been overly vocal about how thankful he was to be back with the Clippers. Then to see this happen at 3 in the morning on a team that’s playing awful,” Green said on his show.
He added: “It’s unfortunate. Boogie said CP3 deserves to have his flowers. CP3 is a legend and one of the top five point guards we’ve ever seen in this league.”
There may still be opportunities ahead for Paul, but even so, it doesn’t change how poorly things ended with the Clippers.
Draymond Green says Chris Paul’s release should worry every NBA player
Draymond Green didn’t just focus on how Paul was treated. He also pointed out how it serves as a reminder for everyone in the league of how quickly things can change.
He went on to add: “I think if you’re an NBA player, this should bother you. Because that shows you what can happen to you.”
The 4x NBA champion concluded, stating: “If that can happen to Chris Paul, imagine how bad it can get for the rest of us who aren’t at the level of Chris Paul.”
