Few expected the Phoenix Suns to be in the thick of the playoff race this season.

Following the offseason departures of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, most projections had them falling out of contention in a competitive Western Conference. But, so far, the Suns have proven those predictions wrong.

Despite those changes, they have turned into a much more balanced group and looks every bit like a playoff team in the Western Conference.

Right now, they are sitting seventh in the West. That probably means a play-in spot at worst, but there is still time for them to climb into the top six as well.

Dillon Brooks is one of the main reasons why the Suns have played better this season.

Thus far this season, he is having an outstanding year, averaging a career-best 22.3 points per game.

Brooks just dropped 33 points on the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, ending their seven-game winning streak.

Speaking about Phoenix’s decision to sign Brooks, Draymond Green said he had a feeling he would make an impact for them right away.

“I think Dillon Brooks… I spoke to some people from the Suns earlier this summer, and I was like, ‘Listen, go get Dillon Brooks. Dillon Brooks is going to raise the level of play on a team on a nightly basis.’ That is who he is; that’s what he does,” Green began by saying.

“I have a lot of respect for that.

“The way he’s playing right now for Phoenix has been incredible.

“He’s scoring the ball in every which way: mid-range, three, off the dribble, side-step, getting to the cup. He’s doing it all, and obviously, he’s still playing with that same chip and tenacity that he’s always played with, so you have to tip your hat to him.

“Saw something today that said he could possibly be an All-Star. Anybody who can grind and become an All-Star in their eighth year, or whatever year he’s in…”

Dillon Brooks is proving to be a game-changer

Brooks has a knack for lifting the ceiling of whichever team he is on, and his track record speaks for itself.

During his time with the Memphis Grizzlies, they were one of the top teams in the West. Since he left, things have not looked the same.

When Brooks moved to the Houston Rockets, he played a big part in helping them climb up to the No. 2 seed in the conference.

Now with Phoenix, Brooks has helped them push for a top-six spot when many had written them off as lottery-bound.

He deserves plenty of recognition for how much he impacts winning and what he brings on both ends of the court.
