Draymond Green says he ‘would love’ to be commissioner

Green was asked directly whether he would entertain the idea of serving as commissioner after retirement. He answered without hesitation.

He connected the potential move to his desire to see the NBA continue to expand and improve.

“I would love to. I always want to see this league grow. In my time in this league, I’ve had my fair share of hiccups, but I hope, and I think I’ve done more good than bad.”

The four-time NBA champion acknowledged that his career has included controversial moments. Still, he suggested that his overall influence on the league has been constructive.

League growth remains central to his vision

Throughout his remarks, Green repeatedly referenced growth as his primary motivation. He framed the commissioner role as an avenue to help shape the NBA’s long-term future.

Rather than presenting the idea casually, Green spoke about it as a legitimate path once his playing days are over. His comments suggest he intends to remain closely connected to the league in some capacity.

For now, Green remains focused on competing with the Warriors. When retirement eventually arrives, however, he has made it clear that leading the NBA would appeal to him.
