Two fighters on the UFC White House card will be without their head coach for the event.

The UFC White House event is now less than two weeks away, and the buzz around it continues to grow. There are only seven fights on the card, two of which are title bouts.

Despite Donald Trump’s earlier claim that there would be 8-9 title fights, there are just seven matches scheduled, with two title bouts included.

Kicking off the card will be a featherweight clash between former title challenger Diego Lopes and Steve Garcia.

Steve Garcia is currently riding a seven-fight win streak, and it’s put him firmly in the conversation for a shot at the featherweight title.

Steve Garcia will be without his longtime head coach for White House fight

Diego Lopes has had two cracks at the belt in the past year, but both times he came up short against Alexander Volkanovski.

Throughout his run, Garcia has worked under Jackson Wink head coach Greg Jackson. But for what could be his most important fight to date, Garcia will be without Jackson in his corner.

Shortly after Josh Hokit’s fight with Derrick Lewis was added to the card, Hokit mentioned that Jackson wouldn’t be attending due to personal reasons.

“I always love having Greg in my corner,” Garcia told MMAJunkie. “Greg has been in my corner for the last several years, especially in the UFC, along with prior to that. But I’ve also fought without him in my corner for many years, too.

So it’s not like it’s unusual. But he’s been very active in this training camp. We meet every single day and have multiple privates all the time in preparation for this fight.”

If he gets past Lopes, there’s a good chance he’ll be next in line for a shot at Volkanovski’s belt – though Movsar Evloev is expected to get the next title shot.

“As far as getting the opportunity, absolutely. The opportunity at hand is something that could definitely elevate me, and I get the opportunity to rise to this challenge and do it on the White House (event) is something special. So I’m excited about that part.”
