Drake Maye used Super Bowl LX media week to reflect on a piece of guidance he received from the most influential figure in New England Patriots history.

As the second-year quarterback continues to find his footing in the NFL, Maye shared the advice from Tom Brady that has stayed with him the most.

The message focused less on superstardom and more on the work required to build a lasting career.

Drake Maye shares Tom Brady advice during Super Bowl media day

Speaking at media day ahead of Super Bowl LX, Drake Maye was asked about the best advice he has received from Tom Brady since entering the league.

The New England Patriots second-year quarterback explained that Brady’s message centred on discipline, preparation, and avoiding shortcuts as he builds his career.

“I’ve met Tom a few times. And one of the best things he’s said is, ‘There’s no shortcuts to it.’ There’s no shortcuts to putting in the work, and the proof’s in the pudding.”

“And knowing that the shortcuts that people try to take, it’s not worth it. Get the most out of what you put into it.”

Maye added that Brady’s career served as the clearest example of that philosophy in action.

A lesson that reflects Brady’s Patriots legacy

Tom Brady’s message echoed the principles that defined his two-decade run with the Patriots, built on discipline, preparation, and long-term commitment.

For Maye, now tasked with helping guide the franchise into its next era, the advice carries added weight given Brady’s role in shaping the modern identity of the organisation.

While Maye remains at an early stage of his NFL journey, his comments suggested an understanding that development is a process rather than immediate results.

Ahead of Super Bowl LX, the exchange served as a reminder that some of the league’s most important lessons remain unchanged.
