Drake’s partnership with Nike and Kevin Durant has already played a role in the launch of the KD 19.
The rapper appeared in the debut commercial for Durant’s latest signature shoe, hyping up the Still Blue colourway ahead of its summer release.
Now Drake and Durant have teamed up again for another Nike ad, this time promoting the Purple Candies colourway, and the rapper used the spot to take a swipe at Anthony Edwards.
Drake throws shade at Anthony Edwards in new Nike ad

Edwards, an Adidas athlete, also has a purple colourway tied to his own signature line, which made Drake’s line pointed.
In the ad, the Canadian rapper said: “‘Hey Ant-Man, can you drop your purple shoes?’ said four kids in Minnesota. Like nobody wants to see those, they want the KDs.”
The remark was not just about sneakers. It came after reports about Edwards’ personal life became a talking point in 2025, when the rumours of him having four children with four different women emerged.
Drake took a shot at LeBron James earlier this year
It is not the first time Drake has used an NBA name to fuel a public jab this year.
On his ICEMAN album, the rapper appeared to take aim at LeBron James on “Make Them Remember”, with lyrics about seeing someone in that arena and building a career by switching teams.
Many listeners saw it as a reference to James attending Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert during Drake’s feud with Lamar.
