Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been waxing-lyrical over England’s Raheem Sterling amid his links to Arsenal.
The pundit has been championing England all the way during this tournament, and he’s been blown away by Sterling’s performances so far after he stepped up to be England’s main man.
The Manchester City ace has scored three of England’s four goals so far, and it’s fair to say he’s leading the charge as the Three Lions desperately try to win the Euros for the first time ever.
What’s been said?
Wright has been full of praise for the winger.
“You know when you need someone to turn up in the tournament and be the man, Raheem Stering is that man. After the first game, just like Jordan Pickford for England, he’s done nothing to give Gareth Southgate a reason to leave them out, but because everybody says they’ve been poor for their club, even I said that he might not start him,” Wright said.
“Raheem Sterling that guy is literally doing it on a game by game basis, he’s grasping the whole country and just dragging them along.

Imagine him at Arsenal
Arsenal need a player who can drag them to glory, and Sterling has proven at the Euros that he’s capable of putting a team on his back.
Imagine if Sterling joined Arsenal, he could transform their fortunes under Mikel Arteta, and we’re sure that the move would have the backing of Wright, who is of course one of the most high-profile Arsenal fans in the media.
Of course, whether or not such a move comes to fruition remains to be seen, and after such a successful Euros it’s hard to see City wanting to get rid of him.
