Tottenham Hotspur are said to be trying to buy Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson in the summer.

According to a report in The Times, Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a summer bid for Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson, but his value could be about to sky-rocket.
Spurs have been keeping tabs on Mawson for over a year now, and will finally back up their interest with a bid in the near future.

However, they may have left things too late, as Mawson’s value could be about to inflate.
The central defender has just been called into the England squad for the first time, ahead of the Three Lions’ friendlies against Holland and Italy.
There are places up for grabs in England’s World Cup team, especially at centre-back, and if Mawson impresses in the upcoming friendlies he could feature in Russia.

If Mawson then goes on to catch the eye in the World Cup, he will see his price-tag increase considerably.
And Tottenham may be regretting not pushing through a deal for Mawson at any earlier stage now, as if the Swansea man impresses on international duty, he is going to be a hugely costly purchase.
