Roy Keane has warned Arsenal transfer target, Marcus Rashford, is now ‘down the pecking order’ with England, as he told ITV Sport.

The former midfielder seemingly sent a warning to the out-of-form Manchester United forward ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Rashford hasn’t been selected in England’s latest squad and a transfer away from Old Trafford may well be needed this summer in order for the 24-year-old to get back on track.

Arsenal are seemingly one of the clubs standing up and expressing an interest in signing the player this summer, according to the Mirror.

Perhaps a move such as that will be needed if Rashford wants to get back in the England hunt, as Keane sent this message to those out-of-form players.

“He’s (Southgate) loyal but he’s not stupid,” said Keane. “He needs these players, especially the attacking players, to be performing at club level.

“People like Rashford, who a few months ago, you thought he was certain to be in the England squad.

“And now he is probably down the pecking order. So, a lot will depend on what these lads do at club level during the next few months.”

The problem facing Rashford is that the attacking talent is already jam-packed, so he doesn’t want to be forgotten about so quickly.

If he doesn’t get picked, then he’s probably not going to be much of a miss because of the quality already around the set-up.

Arsenal are chasing Champions League football and, if they secure fourth, then it will be ahead of Man United.

So, from that sense, Rashford may well end up swapping a team for not in the Champions League to one that is, so that’s probably another reason for the versatile forward to leave.
