The Whites striker scored a stunning volley in the win over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.
Leeds United striker Souleymane Doukara has told the club’s official website that he has never hit a ball better in his life than he did in scoring against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.
Doukara smashed home a stunning volley from outside the penalty area to cap a 2-0 win for the Whites against Forest at Elland Road this week.
That was just the fifth goal the 25-year-old has scored this season, and by some considerable distance the best of those strikes.
In fact, the man himself admitted to Leeds’ official website that he has never struck a ball better than on that occasion, and half-joked that he should win the Championship goal of the season award.
Doukara said: “I just tried to shoot and hit the target and it went in, I’m happy for myself and the team for the three points.
“I’ve never hit a better strike than that, it was a good goal, but we won and keep going which is the most important thing. This time I will be disappointed if I don’t win goal of the season!”
The 2-0 win over Forest saw Leeds move back into third in the Championship table, and was their 13th clean sheet in all competitions this term.
In fact, only four teams have conceded fewer goals in the second tier this season than Leeds, and Doukara was quick to praise the defensive prowess of his teammates.
The striker added: “The first half was hard because both teams were tight and Nottingham Forest played good football. As soon as we came out for the second half, we started to play our football and we got the goal through [Chris] Wood and I managed to come on and kill the game.
“We have a really good defence, which is really strong and keeping clean sheets, in the Championship when you have this and score goals it makes it easy to keep going at a high level.”
Leeds are next in action at non-league Sutton United in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.
