Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be in the market for a new winger this summer – and they were linked with a blockbuster move earlier this week.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men snapped up both Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou last summer in a bid to provide more quality out wide, but neither player has managed to make a considerable impact.

Many expect both Frenchmen to leave the club this summer, and believe that Pochettino will bring in a new winger to boost his Spurs attack, with a huge name linked earlier this week.

The Mirror reported this week that Spurs are weighing up a £30million summer move to sign Bayern Munich ace Douglas Costa, who has endured a frustrating season with the Bundesliga champions.

Costa, 26, was previously a key player with Bayern under Pep Guardiola, notching four goals and nine assists in 27 Bundesliga appearances last season, he has been more of a bit-part figure under Carlo Ancelotti, starting just 13 league games – yet he has still managed four goals and three assists.

Now, the Brazilian international could be targeted by Spurs, and Pochettino should be boosted by comments the pacey winger made in February, as quoted by Eurosport.

Costa admitted that he isn’t totally happy with his playing time, and whilst he has received offers from China, he believes the Premier League is the best league in the world and hinted that he would love a move to England – giving Tottenham some hope that they could in fact pull off a huge deal for the winger when he considers his future this summer.

“It depends on a few factors, the main factor is the minutes played. Being a parent is a crucial difference within my career project,” said Pochettino. “We got some strong offers from China and also from big clubs from Europe. When the season is over, we will sit down and analyse everything.”

“I want to win all sorts of titles and then the World Cup with the Brazilian national team. Then we will think about new markets. I cannot comment on names, but there are contacts with teams from England, Spain and also France. But we respect Bayern. First we want to get together with them and look at what they think of it, and then we make a decision.”

“I am still under contract with FC Bayern until 2020, I have three more years. Of course, football is a business, Bayern simply has to accept a bid and the others pay what they have to pay. I think England is one of the biggest football leagues in the world – fantastic! Just like Spain’s La Liga also, with big players, big teams, The language is easier in Spain, but England also has great players. For me it is the best league in the world,” he added.
