Leeds United’s hopes of signing Aleksandar Prijovic were dealt a blow yesterday as reports emerged that Wolves have entered the race for the Serbian striker.
The 24 hours since have perhaps been kind to Leeds in this regard, providing Wolves do not get really greedy.
This is because yesterday they tied up a deal to sign Valencia’s Rafa Mir, and now The Mirror report they are working on a deal to sign veteran striker Robbie Keane.
Wolves may have needed reinforcements up front, but with two additions suddenly incoming, their need for Prijovic decreases.
This is certainly good news for Leeds with Serbian outlet Sportske last night reporting again that PAOK could cash in on Prijovic at £4 million – less than half his £8.8 million release clause.
Wolves could really show some force and move for the striker, but it might actually now play into Leeds’ hands the fact there would be less competition at Elland Road, especially with the Serbian wanting to secure a place in his country’s World Cup squad.
