‘Double standards’: Aston Villa fans react to news coming out of Tottenham

Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to Tottenham’s Europa League Conference League tie against Stade Rennais being postponed because of a COVID outbreak at the club.

Last season, when fans weren’t allowed into stadiums, Villa were in the same unfortunate circumstances as Spurs.

One of Villa’s games, their FA Cup home clash against Liverpool, was still played despite the outbreak at the club.

The Midlands side fielded a team of teenagers, who were so young that they had to be dropped off by their parents for the match.

Remarkably enough during that match, Villa equalised on the stroke of half-time through Louie Barry, before being beaten 4-1 in what was an outstanding effort from the youngsters.

Villa fans have pointed out how they had to field their young kids and why Spurs haven’t done the same for their now-called off game tonight.

Some would point towards the fact that Villa did have their Premier League clash against Everton postponed.

And, in this case, the same is just happening to Spurs, who are in a right mess now ahead of their match against Brighton on Sunday.

They are already playing catch-up in the Premier League, after their game against Burnley was called off because of the snow.

The big problem they face is that they have a busier schedule than others because of Europe, League Cup and Premier League matches.
