Tottenham are reportedly looking to sell two players.

Mauricio Pochettino manager

It looks like being a second successive frustrating transfer window for Tottenham Hotspur, with no players coming in.

Prior to the window it was reported Spurs must sell to buy, The Evening Standard reported.

SkySports report Spurs are looking to cash in on Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, who were both signed in 2016 and have struggled for regular action.

Getting rid of the pair must become a real priority for Spurs before the transfer deadline – and it could help keep manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Break the cycle

Both N’Koudou and Janssen were players Spurs wanted to sell in the summer too, without success.

If Spurs can shift them now, permanently, it removes a problem for this summer’s transfer window.

The duo are not going to become any more prized assets between now and the next transfer window, and will be harder to shift.

By getting rid now, even for slightly below the amount Spurs would like, Tottenham would benefit in four ways.

They would receive a transfer fee, save on wages, lower the number of foreign players in the squad, and not have to expend time and energy on the pair any more.

The extra money from fee and wages will help swell Tottenham’s transfer pot for the summer, and get on the front foot early.

This can help convince Mauricio Pochettino to stay put, with the hope the next transfer window can be different.

By keeping the pair, Pochettino couldn’t be blamed for casting his eye forward to August deadline day, and still seeing Tottenham desperately trying to shift Janssen and N’Koudou, and failing again to land additions of their own.
