The goalkeeper reunited with his former manager at Celtic this summer.
Nottingham Forest’s Dorus de Vries
Celtic goalkeeper Dorus de Vries has revealed to Voetbal International that Brendan Rodgers tried to sign him at Liverpool.
The goalkeeper made the move to Scotland in the summer transfer window as they looked for sufficient competition to Craig Gordon.
The switch saw him reuniting with manager Rodgers, with the two also having worked together during a highly successful spell at Swansea City.
Indeed, upon completing the transfer the Northern Irishman explained that he had brought the goalkeeper to Celtic Park because of that previous working relationship.

But it appears they could have been reunited sooner had the current Hoops boss had had his way.
“Brendan Rodgers and I have a good click, which was created during our time with Swansea City,” he told Voetbal International.
“Later as manager of Liverpool he tried to bring me to Anfield. Rodgers knows me as a goalkeeper and as a person, and believes that I can add something to his team.”

It will be interesting to see if Rodgers looks to target more of his former players in future.
De Vries was one of several of his former stars to join him at the club this summer, with the likes of Scott Sinclair and Kolo Toure also making the move.
So far it has been a successful strategy for him and perhaps it will be one he looks to continue with his future signings at the club.
