The Dortmund star expects a tough battle against the Premier League side.
Tottenham Hotspur comfortably dispatched of difficult opposition in the last round of the UEFA Europa League, beating Fiorentina 4-1 on aggregate in an impressive two-legged performance.
Now they will face the current favourites in the next round.
Spurs have been drawn against Borussia Dortmund in the, after the German side defeated Porto 3-0 on aggregate.
The Bundesliga side are considered the best team left in the competition by many, although Spurs would certainly push them for that tag.
It is a tough draw but one both teams appear ready to relish – including Dortmund captain Mats Hummels.
Speaking to Kicker the German international has made his feelings on facing a tough Tottenham side clear:
“I’m not someone who always hopes to get the easiest opponents and muddling through somehow I want the best, I want to face the best from the very first match.
“Should we get clear of Tottenham, it feels very different than if you defeat a team you are expected against with two simple wins.”
Hummels will be tasked with keeping Harry Kane from hitting the back of the net over the two-legs, a task easier said than done.
For Kane it will be a test against arguably one of the world’s best defenders – who is currently in fantastic form.
It promises to be a fantastic battle between two of the best teams left in the competition and it all get started this Thursday in Germany.
