Dortmund looking to recreate £88m success with Palace ace eyed by Everton

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly keeping tabs on Crystal Palace teenager Junior Dixon, with Everton also keen on signing the 17-year-old attacker in 2023.

According to the Telegraph, the Bundesliga giants are on the hunt for their next English success story following Jadon Sancho and now Jude Bellingham’s incredible spells at Dortmund, with the Telegraph recently reporting that Real Madrid are preparing an £88m offer for the rumoured Liverpool and Chelsea target.

Dortmund are not alone in their interest in signing Dixon, though. As per the report, Frank Lampard’s Everton are also keen to bring the teenager to Goodison Park next year, with Belgian giants KRC Genk also eyeing the 17-year-old attacker, who this season has been in top form.

The Eagles wonderkid has already bagged an impressive seven goals and two assists in just five U-18 Premier League fixtures, and it is this form that has seemingly drawn Dortmund’s attention to Dixon, with the forward an intriguing prospect for the German titans.

Indeed, Dortmund have another English youngster breaking through at the club this season in the form of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who joined in 2020 from Manchester City. And Dixon could well be the Bundesliga side’s latest import from the United Kingdom, unless Palace or Everton have anything to say about it.

With Dixon yet to sign a professional contract with the Selhurst Park side, there’s a good chance that Palace could lose out on their star teenager in the coming months, especially with January approaching and both Dortmund and Everton keeping tabs on the 17-year-old.

Dortmund could win race to sign Dixon ahead of Everton

Dortmund’s youth development is second-to-none in Europe, and because of this, Dixon will find it hard to find a better club to leave Palace for in 2023 should the attacker decide to leave his boyhood team for opportunities beyond south London, even with Everton in the race.

After all, whilst Everton could provide a clearer path to senior football than Palace, Dortmund will be the best club in Europe for Dixon to develop his game and to eventually get regular minutes in the first-team, even with the German side’s current attacking options.
