Tottenham beat Dortmund at Wembley last night.
Tottenham Hotspur had a stroke of fortune in their win over Borussia Dortmund in midweek.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal was wrongly disallowed at 2-1, before Harry Kane went and added a third to seal the game.
Dortmund defender Omer Toprak felt Tottenham’s win was unfair on his side, and that Kane’s first goal should not have been allowed to stand.
He told Focus: “We can not really say that Tottenham was superior, but in the first half of the game meant we had the whole game under control, but then there were clear mistakes.
“Before the second goal was a clear foul from Kane to Sahin, our goal of Aubameyang is not given.”
While Toprak felt Spurs were not deserving of the three points, German legend Oliver Kahn strongly disagreed.
Kahn told BILD he felt Dortmund were not strong enough and gave Tottenham too much space at Wembley.
He said: “You have to play at this level more strongly. Tottenham got too much space, absolutely deserved victory.”
With Real Madrid lurking as group favourites, Tottenham’s win over Dortmund was vital and the two goal cushion could come in handy if qualification comes down to goal difference.
Spurs needed the win to erase any nagging doubts over whether they can win at Wembley, and while they did have a bit of luck with Aubameyang’s disallowed goal, they played strongly enough to feel that they might have gone onto win the match anyway.
