Manchester United could be closing in on the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan of Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has told Funke Mediengruppe, as quoted by The Mirror, that ‘the situation has changed’ with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Manchester United.
Mkhitaryan, 27, was a 2013 signing from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk, and whilst he impressed in his first two seasons at Signal Iduna Park, last term saw Mkhitaryan become one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking players.

The Armenian international predominantly played on the right of a front three alongside Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and racked up an impressive 18 goals and 20 assists for Dortmund in all competition this past season.
Unsurprisingly, those exploits in Germany have triggered major interest in Mkhitaryan’s signature, and it’s Manchester United pushing to land him in a huge deal this summer.

Having landed Eric Bailly from Villarreal in a big-money move earlier this month, new United boss Jose Mourinho has turned his attention to snapping up Mkhitaryan this summer.
The Telegraph report that Mkhitaryan is closing in on a move to Old Trafford after United increased their bid to a deal which could rise to around £31.7m – and now, Dortmund’s CEO has confirmed that a new offer from the Red Devils has been received.

Speaking to German newspaper Funke Mediengruppe, as quoted by The Mirror, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed that ‘the situation has changed’ as United have substantially improved their offer for Mkhitaryan, having had one bid rejected earlier this month.
Watzke added that, with pre-season training starting on Monday, the deal will be decided over the weekend, meaning United could be just days away from landing their man.
“Manchester United have substantially improved their offer,” said Watzke. “The situation has changed. There are always several aspects in such a decision. I have already contacted the appropriate people and we will weigh up all the pros and cons at the weekend. Then, the management will decide. As we start training on Monday, we will do that on the weekend, definitely,” he added.
