Tony Dorigo has told Betstars that Adam Forshaw has been a good signing for Leeds United.
Forshaw joined Leeds from Championship rivals Middlesbrough in the January transfer window for a fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £4.5 million.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who suggested to Leeds Live that Leeds’s director of football Victor Orta played an important role in his decision to move to the Whites from Middlesbrough, has made nine starts and three substitute appearances in the Championship for the West Yorkshire outfit this season.
Former Leeds defender Dorigo has been impressed with the performance of Forshaw for the Whites since his switch from Middlesbrough in January.
Dorigo told Betstars when asked if he can think of any player who would fit the physical ball-winning midfielder’s role Leeds head coach Paul Heckingbottom wants: “The problem is the style that Leeds play and the players in front of the midfield.
“If you’ve got Hernandez, Saiz and Alioski obviously none of them are physical or ball-winning players so you really have to beef up that midfield area.
“And that’s where I think Forshaw, who’s come in from Middleborough, has been a good signing. Vieira has had a bit of an up and down time.
“They’ll be leaning on Forshaw but if they can get another strong midfielder in there to really help the team that would be key.”
Important player
Forshaw is a very good midfielder who knows the Championship inside out, and that has shown in his performances for Leeds.
For the West Yorkshire outfit to finish in the top six of the Championship next season, they will need the former Everton and Brentford midfielder to be at his very best.
