Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be in the market for a new striker this summer and one target appears to be available.

Ange Postecoglou had a decent first season at Tottenham Hotspur but will be disappointed with the end to the campaign.

Five defeats in the last seven meant Tottenham miss out on the top four and have been forced to settle for Europa League action next season.

Tottenham must now invest in new signings to bolster Postecoglou’s squad and a new striker is an absolute must.

Harry Kane left the club for Bayern Munich last summer and Tottenham are yet to bring in another centre forward to replace him.

Postecoglou has mostly focused on signing versatile forwards such as Timo Werner and Brennan Johnson, playing them out wide rather than through the middle.

The time has surely come for Tottenham to bring in another striker and Postecoglou may have already received something of a boost…

Lille prepared to sell Tottenham Hotspur target Jonathan David

HITC understands that Tottenham have shown a real interest in signing Lille striker Jonathan David.

The Canadian hitman has been prolific for Lille since joining from Belgian side Gent back in 2020.

David smashed 26 goals in all competitions this past season, taking his tally in a Lille shirt to 84 goals in 183 appearances.

That kind of goalscoring record may be difficult for Tottenham to ignore, especially now David is available.

Lille president Olivier Letang has now been quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying that David ‘can leave’ this summer.

Letang noted that David – just like Lille’s wonderkid defender Leny Yoro – is out of contract in 2025, so Lille would rather cash in now.

“Leny Yoro and Jonathan David can leave the club this summer,” said Letang. “Both have the ‘exit voucher’ due to their contract situation,” he added.

Those comments will have certainly raised a few eyebrows inside Tottenham and Daniel Levy may well be tempted to launch a move.

Hailed as a ‘phenomenon’ by former Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck, David may be ready to take the next step in his career.

Ligue 1 to the Premier League is a step up though and David will need to ramp up his game in order to be a real replacement for Kane.

David’s contract situation will certainly appeal to Tottenham and with top strikers usually costing enormous sums of money, Tottenham may well be tempted to go for the Canada international this summer.
