Liverpool fans have suggested that they hope Jurgen Klopp isn’t planning to make a bid for Sokratis, despite his departure from Arsenal yesterday.

Arsenal announced that Sokratis would be leaving on a free midway through yesterday afternoon, with Liverpool fans keeping a keen eye on developments.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool have been offered the opportunity to sign Sokratis already this month on the Here We Go Podcast.

But Liverpool fans do not seem too enthusiastic about the prospect on signing the 32-year-old, even though he is available on a free transfer.

Liverpool have been reluctant to find a short term fix to their central defensive issues, so it does seem unlikely that they will target Sokratis.

However, the Reds clearly do need additions at the back, as they have been so short of options there so far this season.

Liverpool have suffered badly with injury, and Sokratis would at least have a proven track record of playing Premier League football.

While he wouldn’t be the most exciting of signings, he could arguably be an upgrade on the inexperienced duo Rhys Williams or Nathaniel Phillips until the end of the season, who Liverpool are currently very reliant on.
