Mikel Arteta has explained that Arsenal must stay on their toes to avoid losing momentum and start to endure a rollercoaster season after a complete flip in form, via football.london.
The Gunners began the Premier League campaign with three-straight defeats, each without scoring. But have pulled a U-turn since the September international break to win three on-the-bounce, including beating rivals Tottenham Hotspur 3-1.
The north London derby capped a run of four wins in-a-row over an unbeaten September across all competitions. Despite having ended August claiming their sole win in the Carabao Cup against West Brom.

Arteta hopes Arsenal can avoid further flips in form and maintain their momentum going forward, starting with Brighton on Saturday. The Spaniard is fully aware of how quickly the table can change when results go astray, or promising runs begin.
“Hopefully not,” Arteta said. “This is what we want to avoid, we don’t want that. We want to be stable and consistent in performances, which will lead to results.
“We know this league is so competitive, and anybody can beat you. So, as I said before, you have to be on your toes, because any detail can change any momentum.”
Can Arsenal avoid a rollercoaster season under Arteta?
Since Arteta replaced Unai Emery in charge at Arsenal in December 2019, their form has been consistently inconsistent. The Gunners were draw specialists over his early months at the helm, before wins come thick and fast.
But after a strong start last term, the Emirates Stadium natives returned to their fickle ways to put pressure on Arteta’s position. Yet they turned a corner over the winter to buy the Spaniard time. And, after yet another wobble, ended the campaign strongly.
Yet late results did not flow over the summer and Arsenal started the season dismally. So, Arteta will need to find consistency in an unpredictable environment to fulfil his aims of avoiding a rollercoaster year.
