
Some Leeds United and Scotland fans have been struggling to get their heads around Liam Cooper being left on the bench by Steve Clarke on Tuesday evening.
The Whites’ captain started the game on the bench, but after half an hour, Grant Hanley was taken off after picking up an early yellow card, but rather than Cooper replacing him, Scott McKenna was brought on.
It’s certainly curious that a bottom-half Championship player was brought on ahead of a Premier League captain in a must-win game for Scotland, and it’s fair to say that fans were baffled.
Leeds supporters and Scotland supporters couldn’t get their head around why McKenna was brought on ahead of Cooper, and to be honest, we can’t make head nor tail of it either.
Unfortunately for Scotland, they bowed out of the Euros on Tuesday, losing 3-1 to Croatia, and perhaps they would have gotten a better result if Cooper had been on the pitch.
