Speaking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, Patrick Bamford has claimed that no other team can match the Whites’ fitness levels.

Leeds are undoubtedly one of the fittest teams in the world, they run so much, and they play football at a high-intensity for the full 90 minutes every week.

Of course, Leeds aren’t the only team who play in this way, with Liverpool also utilising a style of football described as ‘heavy metal’ by Jurgen Klopp.

However, Bamford believes that Liverpool can’t match Leeds right now due to the number of games they’ve had to play this season.

“Yeah, I don’t think there’s many teams who are as fit as us. You could possibly say Liverpool would be one of the teams who have our level of fitness, but the fact they’re saying so many games as well, that’s going to take a toll on them. So out of the teams who are playing the same games as us, I don’t think there’s anyone close to our fitness levels,” Bamford said.

We can’t disagree with Bamford on this one.

Marcelo Bielsa has turned his Leeds team into a squad of machines that never malfunction, and while Liverpool are equally as physically impressive, their packed schedule has taken its toll.

This does raise the question, would Leeds be able to keep this up if they qualified for European football? Perhaps we will one day find out.
