Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jose Mourinho has given an update on Giovani Lo Celso’s fitness.

The Argentine has been out of action for some time now, and while he’s returned to full training recently, Mourinho says that he’s still not back to full fitness.

Indeed, the Spurs boss says that he doesn’t have 90 minutes in his legs as of yet, but he’s been impressive in the three training sessions he’s taken part in recently.

“Very talented player with very competitive qualities. I don’t think he has 90 minutes in his legs but he’s looked very confident in these three training sessions with the team. I think the team needs him and he is very competitive. I think even for some other players he will help some, he will scare others and I think we need that,” Mourinho said.

It seems as though we could see Lo Celso against Dinamo Zagreb this week, but it will be a fleeting appearance.

Indeed, Lo Celso is working his way back and a Europa League tie that is seemingly all but won will be a great chance for him to regain a bit of match fitness, but as the manager says, he doesn’t have the fitness to play a full 90 at this point.

It’s still a positive to hear that the Argentine is stepping up his recovery, and we can only hope he’s fit enough to play a full match sooner rather than later.
