Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Gary Lineker tipped Jürgen Klinsmann to replace José Mourinho.
What did Lineker say?
While sitting alongside the German for the BBC at EURO 2020, Lineker took to Twitter to praise his colleague.
The BBC Match of the Day host’s tweet can be seen below.
Now, while Lineker’s tweet is clearly just a genuine opinion, it’s a terrible shout in our view.
Klinsmann hasn’t managed since leaving Hertha Berlin in 2020, where he caused some controversy with the manner of his departure.
The 56-year-old resigned on FaceBook just ten weeks into the job, before stating his intention to remain on the club’s board.
However, he was blocked from doing so, as Hertha Berlin investor Lars Windhorst deemed Klinsmann’s behaviour as ‘unacceptable’.
What do the Tottenham fans think?
Clearly, the Tottenham fans feel the same as us.
To go from Mauricio Pochettino, to Mourinho, to Klinsmann would be a bizarre sequence of appointments.
It would suggest that Daniel Levy is genuinely trying to make Spurs worse if he actually went along with Lineker’s recommendation.
Apart from his one season with Bayern Munich in 2008/09, Klinsmann has never had any experience of managing a top side.
In fact, his time with the Bavarians is just one of two club roles he’s had, along with Hertha Berlin.
Simply put, this would be a bizarre appointment.
