Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Ainsley Maitland-Niles against Liverpool this evening.

Maitland-Niles was in action for Arsenal in the FA Community Shield against Liverpool at Wembley Stadium in London.

The 23-year-old – who can operate as a midfielder, winger, full-back or wing-back started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, with Mikel Arteta’s side winning it on penalties.

The youngster gave a very good account of himself in normal time, and he scored from the penalty spot during the shootout.

According to WhoScored, the Englishman took one shot which was not on target, had a pass accuracy of 71.4%, took 48 touches, made four tackles, one interception and three clearances, and put in three crosses.

Maitland-Niles has been linked with a move away, with Sky Sports reporting that Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in the youngster.

The report has claimed that Wolves have had an initial offer of £15 million turned down by Arsenal, but the two clubs are still in talks over a transfer.

Some Arsenal fans were impressed with the display produced by Maitland-Niles and have urged the club not to sell him this summer.
