Newcastle United fans have been left slightly bemused after the Daily Mail suggested that Dean Henderson was on their wishlist.
Henderson to Newcastle?
The report claims that Newcastle could look to sign the Manchester United goalkeeper in January, if he isn’t given his number one role back.
Henderson apparently wants more first-team football than he is getting at Old Trafford currently, where he is playing second fiddle to David de Gea.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side are now said to be interested in snapping the England International up, if he becomes available.
However, Newcastle supporters don’t feel that Henderson is a necessary addition.
While there is no doubting his quality, Newcastle already have a solid goalkeeping department.
With Martin Dubravka, Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman already at the club, the Magpies have three impressive stoppers at their disposal.
And Newcastle fans just don’t see the value of bringing in another player in the position in January.
Transfer plans being made?
Howe has kept his cards close to his chest at Newcastle so far.
He insists that he hasn’t made any plans for January, although he could be forgiven for thinking ahead.
Newcastle’s new riches means that they are expected to make alterations to their squad in the new year and an injection of quality is clearly needed.
Howe inherits a sit who sit six points adrift of safety and haven’t picked up a win in their first 11 Premier League games this season.
