Joan Jordan has little interest in swapping La Liga for Arsenal, telling Estadio Deportivo he doesn’t envisage leaving Sevilla in the near future.

The irony won’t have been lost on Gunners fans.

As Mikel Arteta’s side crashed to another defeat, away at Aston Villa on Saturday, their lack of cutting edge once again exposed by Dean Smith’s heavy-duty back line, Jordan was producing one of the best assists you’ll see anywhere in European football this season.

With 70 minutes on the clock and the scores level, the former Eibar ace lofted a gorgeous pass into the path of Munir El Haddadi as Sevilla finally broke ten-man Getafe’s resistance at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

It’s the kind of match-changing magic that has made Jordan one of Europe’s most impressive, albeit underrated, central midfielders.

The Sun claims his all-action displays have caught the eye of Arsenal boss Arteta too, with Sevilla apparently willing to listen to offers in the region of £35 million.

But, when quizzed over a potential switch to London, Jordan wasted no time in pouring a gallon of cold water on the speculation.

“I do not see myself leaving Sevilla – at all. That is a reality. I am at a spectacular club, with ambition, and that is what my body asks for,” says the 2020 Europa League winner.

“It is the ideal place to keep improving and do great things. I am delighted to be here.”

Inspired by the red-hot form of Youssef En-Nesyri and the eye-catching January signing of former Atalanta talisman Papu Gomez, Sevilla have won 11 of their past 15 La Liga games.

Suddenly, Champions League football in 2021/22 is looking like a guarantee for the Andalusian outfit – and the same certainly can’t be said of Arsenal.
