Darren Ambrose says he can’t see Jude Bellingham securing a transfer to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool if they don’t cement Champions League football for next season.
Former Premier League striker Jay Bothroyd told his fellow pundit ‘don’t say that’ because it will mean he will get stick on social media for his comments.
Come the summer, Dortmund and England’s rising star is expected to be the talk of the transfer town with clubs across Europe looking to secure his talents.
The 19-year-old is at the top of his game in Germany, with Dortmund level on points with champions Bayern Munich amid a five-way battle for the Bundesliga title.
Whilst Liverpool are very keen to bring him to Merseyside next season, there is always the road of staying at his current club and continuing to work his magic.
Either way, former midfielder Darren Ambrose, who is a boyhood Tottenham fan, admitted that he is ‘worried’ about the Reds sneaking up and snatching that fourth spot from them, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports News (01/03/23).
“I can’t see players, for the calibre of Jude Bellingham, for instance, wanting to come to a football club that’s not playing Champions League football,” said Ambrose.
Jay Bothroyd responded: “Don’t say that, you are going to get hammered on Twitter.”
Ambrose added: “I just can’t see it. Why leave a club in the Champions League to go to a club that’s not? Maybe he will stay at Dortmund for another season, then look at Liverpool and see how they are doing.
“I am a Spurs supporter. Liverpool are a team that concerns me still.”

During the past few seasons, Manchester City and Chelsea have broken the £100 million barrier in the Premier League when they signed Jack Grealish and Enzo Fernandez.
Will their transfers, especially that of Fernandez’s, dictate how the market shapes up in the summer because Dortmund have every right to inflate Bellingham’s price as much as they can?
They’d be daft not to demand beyond over £100 million for a player that is still yet to get out of his teen years.
