Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been discussing Jude Bellingham’s future amid a whirlwind of transfer rumours.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been linked to almost every elite club in Europe at this point, and Liverpool are thought to have him in mind as their top target next summer.
While there is a wide expectation that Bellingham will be on the move next summer, Bailey has also heard that there’s a chance the England ace will stay at Dortmund for another season, stating that Bellingham’s camp have considered the fact that both Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele struggled immediately after leaving Dortmund.
Bellingham to stay?
Bailey shared what he’s been hearing about Bellingham.
“He might stay at Dortmund for another year, don’t rule it out, we have the build-up to Euro 2024 that will be played in Germany, so that could be a factor. If we look at the talent who’ve left Dortmund, Dembele, Sancho and Haaland. Dembele and Sancho struggled to adapt and the player who stayed for an extra year, Haaland, he adapted quickly. Bellingham’s camp, I’m told are looking at that as well, I’m not saying it’s likely, but I wouldn’t rule it out,” Bailey said.
No need to rush
There’s so much talk around Bellingham moving next summer, but perhaps his best course of action would be to stay at Dortmund for another year or two.
At the age of just 19, the most important thing for Bellingham is to be playing regular first-team football, nothing else matters.
Yes, he wants to be playing at the very top level, but realistically he has 15 years ahead of him to win the top trophies in the sport.
He’s settled at Dortmund and improving every week, he doesn’t have to rush this eventual big-money transfer.
