Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after Jeremie Frimpong reacted to Neil Lennon’s resignation with a heartfelt 13-word post.

The 20-year-old, who Lennon signed from Manchester City, didn’t see out the ex-Bolton manager’s final days at Celtic Park after his January exit.

Frimpong joined Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £11.5 million, but he hasn’t forgotten about the man who handed him his senior debut.

Now, some Celtic fans have taken the opportunity to send the right-back a message, telling him to come home seeing as the 49-year-old is now gone.

One other supporter told Frimpong to delete the tweet, suggesting that they still resent Lennon and don’t want to see anyone praise him.

Another fan simply told the Netherlands Under-20 international not to ‘ruin it’ after his tweet – it seems some don’t enjoy Lennon being praised in the slightest.

In our view, there’s no reason why Frimpong should ‘delete this’ – he is just showing gratitude to a manager who put a bit of faith in him.
