Everton snapped up Ademola Lookman on Thursday – and Charlton fans have reacted on Twitter.

Everton swooped to make their first signing of the January transfer window on Thursday afternoon, as they landed Charlton Athletic forward Ademola Lookman.

Lookman, 19, joined Charlton in 2014 from Waterloo FC, and he hit five goals in five goals in 24 games for the Addicks last season having made his debut in November 2015.

The attacker – who can play out wide or up front – has thrived this term, scoring seven times in 25 games for the League One side, and has now earned his move to the Premier League.

Lookman, who has eight caps for England at youth level, has been linked with a host of top flight clubs, but it was Everton won the race for his signature on Thursday afternoon.

After the deal was confirmed, The Mirror reported that Everton have paid £7.5million up front for Lookman, with the deal potentially reaching £11million with add-ons.

Lookman now joins the Everton first team setup, and whilst been making a name for himself in the Football League, Toffees fans may not be too familiar with their new signing.

Those supporters will though be encouraged by the disappointment of Charlton fans, as many took to Twitter to suggest that they will miss Lookman, whilst telling Everton not to ruin the teenage talent.

Others are hoping that Lookman doesn’t follow the same path as Diego Poyet, who left Charlton for the Premier League with West Ham United in 2014, but failed to make the breakthrough with the Hammers earlier this season.

Some believe that the fee was simply too good to turn down for a League One player, but think that Lookman will become a first-team regular with Everton by the start of next season.
