Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after David Moyes admitted that Anthony Taylor was right to give a penalty against West Ham.

What’s the story?

Well, Vladimir Coufal has been in the headlines today after he was sent off for a challenge on Alexandre Lacazette last night at the Emirates Stadium.

The £5.4m man got the ball, but did so by rolling his foot over the top of it instead of poking it away, which led to him catching Lacazette.

Coufal was shown a second yellow card as a result, but he managed to avoid giving a goal away as Lukasz Fabianski saved the spot-kick.

In truth, Taylor could’ve given the decision either way as it was fairly soft, so it’s interesting to hear Moyes go against his own player.

Speaking to BT Sport, the West Ham boss said: “I think Anthony Taylor got this one right. Vladimir should have got better contact on the ball. He should have toe-poked the ball away or blocked it, I don’t think it was that difficult a tackle to make.”

Fair play to Moyes, you certainly don’t hear that often.

It would’ve been very easy for the Scot to criticise Taylor, but instead, he came into the interview with a calm head on his shoulders.

West Ham must improve after Arsenal defeat

In our view, Moyes has been clever here.

The Hammers were by no means good enough to beat the Gunners last night, and he seems to be more than aware of that.

As a result, he’s chosen to point the finger at his own players rather than place any blame on the officials, in order for his side to take a look at themselves in the mirror rather than absolve responsibility.

It’s a brave move, as some players won’t enjoy being criticised and may down tools as a result.

Only time will tell if the Irons react positively to what Moyes said.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans have been saying about the 58-year-old’s honest comments…
