Speaking on ESPN, former MLS star Herculez Gomez has been discussing some of the USA’s best players and rumours linking Tyler Adams to Manchester United.
It has been reported in recent days that Manchester United have half an eye on the Leeds United player after an impressive start to life in the Premier League, and Gomez has addressed those stories.
Unfortunately for any fans of the Red Devils, Gomez doesn’t believe that there is much to these rumours, stating that Erik ten Hag’s side, quite simply, don’t need Adams right now, despite the fact that they could be keen due to the marketability of having a talented American within their squad.

Man U don’t need Adams
Gomez discussed these recent rumours.
“Tyler Adams linked to Manchester United and Weston McKennie linked to Spurs, of the two players who needs a move most?” Gomez was asked.
“That’s easy, Weston McKennie. Tyler Adams just arrived at Leeds and you already want to ship him out? Casemiro is at United right now, they literally just got Casemiro, this is a rumour, United could want him because he’s a very good player, the American factor, the market etcetera, but they don’t need him right now,” Gomez said.
Not needed
Gomez is absolutely right about Adams, a move to Manchester United just wouldn’t make sense right now.
Not only do United not need a new midfield player of that ilk, he’s barely proven himself in the Premier League.
Yes, he’s been impressive in flashes, but let’s not forget that he’s been playing in a Leeds team that have been really struggling this season.
Manchester United want to sign the best of the best, and while Adams is a marketable American star, he’s not the calibre of player the Red Devils are chasing at the moment.
