Speaking on Soccer AM’s YouTube channel, Mark Noble has given his verdict on Jesse Lingard since joining West Ham United.
The midfielder has of course made a massive impact on the pitch for the Hammers, but Noble has been surprised about just how good he’s been and how great a character he is in the dressing room.
“Yeah, if I’m honest I knew Jesse was a good player, because I watched him a lot for United and England. I don’t mean this disrespectfully, but when you train with a player you realise how good you are,” Noble said.
“If I’m being honest, he’s a top top player, but he’s surprised me with the person he is. He’s great around the lads, funny, wants to win and he’s been a great addition to the club.”
Lingard often gets a bad press for his personality, with his antics on social media sometimes rubbing people up the wrong way.
However, if you’re in a dressing room full of smiles when your team is riding the crest of a wave, it’s probably brilliant to feed off of Lingard’s exuberant energy.
Of course, on the pitch he’s again been proving how talented he is, earning himself an England call-up once again, and if all continues to go well, he may have a spot in the squad for the Euros.
