Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Primer Tiempo revealed that Spurs have approached Zenit St Petersburg over the signing of Wílmar Barrios.

The 33-cap Colombia international – who England supporters may remember facing at the 2018 World Cup – is said to desire a move to a league with more quality.

If reports are to be believed, Tottenham have held a long-term interest in the 27-year-old.

The Independent revealed back in June 2018 that the north Londoners were stepping up their pursuit of the defensive-midfielder, as Boca Juniors desperately attempted to hang on to him.

Now, it looks as if Jose Mourinho is planning to act on this long-term interest, if Primer Tiempo are to be believed.

If the ex-Real Madrid boss is genuinely thinking about signing Barrios, perhaps he should run the idea past Heung-min Son first.

As the Korea Times reported, the Tottenham No.7 clashed with the Colombian during a heated game between Colombia and South Korea.

Son was spotted making a hand gesture towards Barrios as if to suggest he was talking too much, as tempers flared during the final stages.

Hopefully, the pair can put their differences aside if the Zenit St Petersburg stalwart moves to England – if there are still any differences, of course.

Let’s see how the Tottenham fans on Twitter reacted to the news…
